Mucha's art work was in such high demand that La Plume<> found any excuse to publish as many images as he would create. As an indication of the demand for his work, Leon Deschamps, La Plume's<> director, was proud to claim an unprecedented success for Mucha's first Salon Des Cent<> poster, which sold between 6000 and 7000 copies (La Plume<> 197, p. 396). This poster was originally sold as a decorative panel with the title "Woman with Poppies" a reference to the flowers in the halo behind her. It sold for 5 francs and was printed on high-quality paper. It contains all of the fabled elements of Mucha's repetoire, with the slight addition of two unusual colors to his palette: bright red and blue. Only recently has a copy been discovered with an imprint advertising the sale of all of Mucha's works at La Plume<>, an idea, which, given the image of the woman and the open portfolio, makes sense. Rennert / Weill 56 var 1, Mucha, P25.
